        About : Founder

Renate Karger
Born in the Czech Republic, raised in South Africa and loving life in Canada,
Renate’S inspiration comes from nature and life itself.

As far as craft goes, Karger is drawn to original tribal work particularly from Africa, feeling certain energy from these pieces and a positive creative connection. The combination of texture and color in exotic woods and African fabrics inspire her to paint or create atmosphere, design jewellery or what ever strikes her highly creative mind at that particular moment.
Karger believes one should decorate their homes from what they feel within and create their surroundings with whatever it is that makes them content. For herself, it’s a fine balance of elements, art, wood, metal, stone, fire, water and fabric. Preferring wood to be naturally aged, upholstery uncluttered and modern, art has to be original and everything else collected from travels and unexpected finds. As a rule never using colour swatches to co ordinate a room but letting it fall into place on it's own

Karger is a firm believer in human, and animal rights and support the idea of organizations such as the "Sea Sheppard" taking a firm and physical stand against illegal whaling, seal hunting, shark fining and anything to do with damaging our echo system any further than necessary. Dealing in fair trade is always priority when buying over seas. Feeling connected to artistic communities who in most part are in tune with their surroundings, respect their environment and live a life that is real and naturally beautiful.
Karger gallery has always been an educator and leader in supporting art and connecting it to the conservation of our natural resources.

Hope you enjoy a visit to our site and perhaps we'll                                    see you some day in the beautiful village of Elora.
